Global ranking and rising ecosystem

Ethiopia made the top 100 global startup ecosystems in 2023. Addis Ababa, home to 97% of domestic startups, now ranks 10th in Africa and 328th globally—up 89 spots from the previous year.  

Government support & infrastructure

Initiatives like the NEST program, part of Next Ethiopian Startup, reflect growing state support. The Digital Ethiopia 2025 strategy also fosters innovation across agriculture, fintech, and digital services.  

New tools & facilities emerging

Ethiopia launched the Startup Data Hub, offering public access to verified venture data—boosting transparency and collaboration.

Ethiopia’s first VC-backed incubator, weVenture, aims to support early-stage startups through funding and mentorship.
